Man gets prison time for role in cocaine operation
MADISON A man arrested in Janesville was sentenced Wednesday to 30 months in prison for his role in cocaine distribution, according to a U.S. Attorney’s Office news release.
Gerardo Pineda-Soria, 22, was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Madison after a long-term drug investigation that stretched from Janesville to Watertown, according to the news release.
Pineda-Soria was the 14th person sentenced to prison in the case.
Investigators began using wiretaps in February 2008 to monitor phones in Janesville and Watertown, according to the news release.
The phones were suspected of being used for a drug operation, according to the news release.
About 8,000 calls were monitored by law enforcement, according to the news release.
Pineda-Soria was arrested in June 2008 in Janesville after 11 search warrants were executed throughout the state.
