Beloit Snappers lose marathon

SOUTH BEND, IND. — The Beloit Snappers lost a 15-inning marathon, 3-2, to the South Bend Silver Hawks in Midwest League baseball here Wednesday.

Beloit reliever Michael Tarsi surrendered a two-out double to the Silver Hawks’ Ramon Ramirez to drive in the winning run.

Beloit tied it 2-2 in the top of the ninth on Juan Richardson’s two-out RBI single. South Bend had the game-winning run on second base with one out in the bottom of the ninth, but reliever Joe Testa got the next two Silver Hawks on strikes to end the threat.

Tarsi (0-1) took the loss, allowing one run on two hits in 1 2/3 innings of relief.
