Missed chances costly to Beloit Snappers

BELOIT — The Beloit Snappers could not cash in on their opportunities in a 7-4 loss to the visiting Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in Midwest League baseball Monday.

Beloit stranded 14 baserunners, going 4-for-17 with runners in scoring position. The Timber Rattlers, the Milwaukee Brewers’ low Class A affiliate, did not do much better stranding 11 runners while going 6-for-15 with runners in scoring position.

Each team had 11 hits, but the Rattlers held a 4-3 lead after five innings.

Wisconsin added two more runs in the sixth and its final run in the seventh. Beloit pushed across its last run in the ninth.

Beloit starter Michael Allen (0-6) took the loss, allowing four runs—two earned—on six hits through six innings. Allen walked five and notched three strikeouts.
