Janesville school board to hear discipline report
The Janesville School Board hears a report Tuesday on discipline problems within the school district.
The report is provided by the district's discipline committee, which is asking permission to disband after reporting the results of an annual survey because it feels discipline can best be handled at the building level.
The survey shows that communication seems to be the top concern across grade levels. In elementary schools, students are yelling and talking out of turn. In middle schools, the problems are most related to talking and disrupting class. High school students tend to use inappropriate language and cell phones at school when they shouldn't. Staff members throughout the district say the school district should better and more consistently enforce its discipline policies. Building administrators are developing a plan to deal with the behaviors that need addressing.
A call to the school district requesting a timeline for the plan was not returned Friday.

for starters, no more cell phones. next, the best form of descipline would be take away car privileges. especially when it comes to parking lot garbgage.
