ROCK COUNTY — If you drink and drive while boating in Rock County, don't be surprised if you're ticketed.

The Rock County Sheriff's Office has an active water patrol that covers all navigable waterways in the county. Capt. Jude Maurer says they have several boats, including a special rescue craft obtained last year.

New this year, a jet ski. Maurer says the jet ski will be used on the Rock River and Lake Koshkonong and will be especially helpful around Afton where prop boats run into problems.

The Memorial Day weekend is the traditional start of water recreation in Wisconsin. It's also the end of National Boating Week, May 16-22.
