Janesville Parker girls drop regular-season soccer finale
JANESVILLE The regular season came to a disappointing end Thursday night for the Janesville Parker girls soccer team.
The Vikings, despite 26 saves from goalkeeper Sam Anacker, dropped an 8-1 Big Eight Conference game to state-rated Middleton.
The Cardinals scored five unanswered goals in the second half after the Vikings had cut the lead to 3-1 on Sam Witek’s goal.
“They’re a good team, and we just couldn’t match their run,” Parker coach Amy Wargowsky said of the Cardinals. “I thought Sam (Anacker) had another great game in goal for us, but we just couldn’t get enough going offensively.”
Parker (7-12-2, 2-8) will open WIAA Division 1 tournament play next Thursday night.
