Brodhead softball wins with ease
Brodhead High wasted no time carrying its Rock Valley South co-championship momentum into WIAA softball tournament play.
The Cardinals erupted for seven runs in the first inning Thursday and went on to an 11-1, five-inning rout of Evansville in a Division 2 regional quarterfinal game.
Courtney Mielke drove in three runs, while Erika Stampfli drove in two and struck out six in two innings to lead Brodhead.
The second-seeded Cardinals host third-seeded McFarland in a regional semifinal game Tuesday.
