Janesville Craig soccer falls to West

— Janesville Craig High School took the upper hand on Madison West, but the Regents roared back for a 5-1 victory in Big Eight Conference girls soccer Tuesday.

The loss drops Craig to 1-5-1 in the Big Eight and 5-7-3 overall.


Megan Lindgren scored at 12:40 of the first half to put Craig up, 1-0. West bounced back with four goals in an eight-minute span for a 4-1 first-half lead.


“We just had a letdown,” Craig coach Bill McCabe said. “We couldn’t shake it out.’’


Craig will travel to No. 8 ranked Verona at 4:45 p.m. Thursday.

n Memorial 3, Parker 0—The Vikings went up against first-place Madison Memorial and held the state-ranked Spartans to three goals.


“I was actually really happy with the way the team played,” Parker coach Amy Warkowsky said. “We knew going up there that they were going to be tough. The girls really stepped it up and defensively played really well to hold them to three goals.”


Parker keeper Sam Anacker made 23 saves.


“She was a busy girl,” Wargowsky said. “A couple of her saves were just amazing.”


The Vikings, 2-5 in the Big Eight, finish their conference schedule with a home game against Middleton on Thursday night.
