Peoria tops Beloit in slugfest

— The visiting Peoria Chiefs won a slugfest over Beloit Snappers, 10-6, in Midwest League baseball here Monday.

Peoria reached Beloit starter Bobby Lanigan for eight runs on 10 hits in four innings. The Chiefs finished with 14 hits, including a pair of home runs.

The Snappers had 11 hits, including Angel Morales two-run home run in the first inning.

The game was tied 3-3 after the first inning, but Peoria led 8-5 after four innings. Beloit scored its final run in the fifth,
