JANESVILLE Superintendent Karen Schulte is recommending Christopher Laue of the Fort Atkinson School District for the job of assistant principal at Janesville Craig High School.
The school board will consider Laue's appointment when it meets Tuesday, May 26.
If the school board approves, Laue would begin work July 1 with a recommended salary of $96,101 for a 224-day contract.
Laue taught agriculture in the Geneseo Illinois Schools for one year and in Fort Atkinson for six years before becoming associate principal at Fort Atkinson Middle School in 2000.
Laue would replace Mark Coombs, who is leaving to become principal of Edgerton High School.
Schulte said her recommendation is based on Laue's "strong background in administration; his proven ability to work with all students, parents, and staff; and his focus on academic growth. He also has a great sense of humor."
Laue was chosen from a pool of 139 applicants, according to the news release. A selection committee comprising Craig teachers, support staff, administrators and a parent interviewed five candidates.
Craig Principal Mike Kuehne and Director of Administrative and Human Services Steve Salerno selected two finalists. The other finalist was Parker High School English teacher Sara Heiss.
Another committee, which included Kuehne, staff and Schulte, interviewed the finalists.
