The Beloit City Council meets for a strategic planning workshop Monday to begin the city's budget process.
City Manager Larry Arft says the state budget deficit plays a large role in Beloit's budget talks. Beloit is the largest per-capita recipient of state shared revenues. About 66 percent of the city's general fund comes from that source. Arft says since the state is cutting shared revenue by five percent, it has a big impact on Beloit, up to $900,000.
Arft says there isn't much left in the city budget to cut, but the city will see how it can keep services intact in spite of the cuts.
The workshop is from 1-5pm Monday in the City Hall Forum.
