Vehicle enters bank through window
EVANSVILLE No one was injured Thursday morning when “an elderly customer” drove “through the wall” at M&I Bank, 25 N. Madison St., Evansville, bank manager Dave Holterman said.
The driver appeared to be pulling into a parking stall but continued over a curb and through the window on the west side of the bank, Police Chief Scott McElroy said.
He estimated half of the vehicle or more rested inside the bank.
“The vehicle literally went through the window and was inside the bank,” McElroy said. “Thank goodness no one was injured. We are very, very fortunate.”
The accident happened just before 10 a.m.
Names of the male driver and female passenger were not available Thursday because police were working on the accident report, he said.
McElroy said there were no indications that alcohol or a medical condition caused the accident.
Bank officials were assessing the situation and closed the bank after the accident, Holterman said.
“We dodged a real bullet today,” McElroy said.

ok, we all know this isnt funny, somebody couldve been seriously hurt, and i know we cant help laughing and even making some jokes about it. when and elderly person cant drive anymore thats their last little bit of independance they had,an i also agree, some of these elderly are going to kill someone, weve been trying to take my dads vehicle from him for a year now,and he says LEAVE ME ALONE, IM JUST FINE! bull crap, i wouldnt ride with him if i had to walk in a blizzard!something needs to be done about this, and, now.and a doctor can sign off all day long and that doesnt mean the person is going to listen to them,so as far as making them liable, thats riciculous!these elderly people driving, and causing accidents, and crashing into things need to made liable not the doctor.

Saw a lady at the bank in Fort try to drive out of the lot - OVER the 3' guardrail. Wish i'd had a camera, that was some Epic Win.
/Elderly should have mandatory restrictions at 65, similar to what CDL holders have - a card signed off by their physician with the power to require physicals bianually, anually, or sooner if necessary. Or disqualification. Make their physician liable if they sign off.

Elderly customer. This is no surprise. We've been trying to get Hubby's Dad to cough up the driver's license and the car. He has diabetes ad has NO feeling below his knees! He's gonna kill somebody.
.
Thankfully, he's in a retirement home in Madison and only goes to his doctor's office a few blocks away, but he scares the crappola out of us!
.
Brother-in-law has volunteered to call Dad's doctor and the DMV about it. Finally! Hubby won't do it and I don't have "the balls"! I'm just the daughter-in-law.
.
With us baby boomers aging, I think all should have to take a real driver's test over 70. Scary thing is, Dad DID have to take it a year or two ago, and he passed! Ugh!

I wonder if it's the same elderly woman that crashed a convenience store, and then tried to buy a six pack of beer?
