Snappers fall in 13 innings

CLINTON, IOWA — The Beloit Snappers dodged bullets all night, but eventually Clinton pulled out the Midwest League baseball victory Thursday.

Clinton scored on a single by Denny Almonte in the bottom of the 13th inning to beat the visiting Snappers, 7-6.

The LumberKings had 16 hits, and Beloit pitchers walked four hitters, but the Snappers used three double plays to wiggle out of jams.

Beloit had only five hits, but used two walks and a Clinton error to score twice in the ninth to tie the game at 6-all.

Jon Waltenbury hit a three-run homer in the third inning to put Beloit up, 4-2.

The teams conclude their series tonight, before Beloit returns home Saturday against Peoria to start a 10-game homestand.
