Mauermann accepts Janesville offer
Parker High’s Ross Mauermann, the two-time Big Eight hockey player of the year, will sign a tender today to play for the NAHL’s Janesville expansion team.
Mauermann, 5-foot-9, 170 pounds, went undrafted in Wednesday’s USHL player draft. That opened the door for him to accept the Janesville team’s offer.
“It was a long day waiting to see what happened with the USHL,” Mauermann said. “I feel I can play with those (USHL) guys. But I plan to play in Janesville next year. I love the city of Janesville. I feel the support will help me out tremendously.”
Mauermann will graduate from Parker next month.
“Ross needs a year or two of seasoning,” said John Mauermann, Ross’ father and Bluebirds head coach. “He’s just starting to mature physically.”
Janesville will announce its first batch of signings later today. The NAHL draft is May 20.
