Prospect Hill historic walking tours scheduled

— A tour of the Prospect Hill historic area Saturday will kick off this year's Historic District Walking tours. The tours are sponsored by the Janesville Historic Commission and led by Rich Fletcher.

All tours begin at 9 a.m. Saturdays, with the exception of a summer solstice evening tour of the downtown that begins at 7 p.m.

The schedule is:

Saturday: Prospect Hill. Meet in front of St. Mary Catholic Church, 307 E. Wall St.

June 6: Main Street. Meet in the amphitheater in Lower Courthouse Park.

June 20: Summer solstice evening tour of the downtown. Meet at 7 p.m. in front of the Janesville Design and Development Center, 18 S. Jackson St.

July 11: Columbus Circle. Meet at the park formed by Glen Street, Elm Lane and Columbus Circle.

July 25: Fourth Ward. Meet on the corner of High and Dodge streets near The Armory.

Aug. 8: Look West. Meet in front of the Tallman House.

Aug. 22: Bostwick and Jefferson avenues. Meet in Bostwick Park at the intersection of Bostwick Avenue and Grace Street.

Sept. 12: Benton Avenue. Meet on the corner of Benton and Yuma Street.

Sept. 26: Milwaukee Street. Meet in front of The Janesville Gazette at the corner of Milwaukee Street and Parker Drive.

Oct. 10: Courthouse Hill. Meet in the Wisconsin Street parking lot in Upper Courthouse Park.

Hannah, that is why I don't get the printed edition. For the price the gazette wants you would think they would report better. Not to mention they dont know what the meaning of LOCAL news is. Wonder if anyone has ever counted on a daily basis as to how many stories are about or from Walworth County vs Rock County? FYI....Walworth is not local!
