Beloit Snappers strikes early

CLINTON, IOWA — Adan Severino’s RBI triple and Drew Thompson’s sacrifice fly in the second proved to be enough to give Beloit a 3-2 victory over Clinton in Midwest League action Tuesday night.

Beloit’s Daniel Osterbrock pitched six innings of six-hit ball to earn his first victory of the season. Daniel Berfind pitched one shutout inning, while Joe Testa threw two scoreless innings to earn his second save of the season.

All the runs in the game were scored in the first two innings.

James Beresford doubled, and Jon Waltenbury singled him home for the first Beloit run in the first.

Severino’s triple scored Michael Harrington, who had reached on a two-base error, in Beloit’s second inning. Thompson then drove in Severino with his fly ball to give Beloit a 3-1 lead.

Beresford and Waltenbury each had two hits for the Snappers.

Beloit, which has won three of four games, will be in Clinton for three more games before returning home Saturday to start a 10-game homestand.
