School bus seat belt contract to be finalized

On the heels of a school bus collision in rural Rock County and a bus with a blown tire on the interstate near Portage, the Janesville School Board is ready to finalize its contract for school bus seat belts.

Doug Bunton, Director of Business Services, says the board is approving language that includes seat belts in its contract with Van Galder Bus Company. He says the school board will need to approve the contract change, but five new buses with seat belts are on order for the district. The school board's finance committee discusses the contract change Tuesday.
