Snappers shut out
WEST COMSTOCK, MICH. West Michigan used single runs in the sixth and eighth innings to defeat the punchless Beloit Snappers, 2-0, in a Midwest League game Thursday night.
Beloit was limited to four hits as the Snappers fell to 9-17.
The biggest Snapper threat came in the seventh. Evan Bigley and Jon Walterbury opened the inning with singles. A wild pitch moved both runners up.
After a groundout, Michael Harrington walked to load the bases.
But Whitecap pitcher Tyler Conn struck out Dominic De La Osa, and reliever Jared Gayhart got Ben Guez to fly out to end the inning.
Snapper starter Daniel Osterbrock got the loss.
The Snappers travel to Lansing, Mich., to begin a three-game weekend series against the Lugnuts.
