— Whitewater police are looking for a dog that bit an employee at Washington Elementary School on Tuesday morning.

The man approached a stray dog that was walking toward students, who were outside on the school playground for physical education class about 10:20 a.m. The man told police the dog's tail was wagging and that it seemed friendly. As the man walked away from the dog, it bit him on the left elbow, breaking the skin.

Police searched the area but couldn't find the dog.

The dog is described as having short black-and-gray-striped hair, and as being large in size, bigger than a German shepherd.

The man likely will need to receive treatment for rabies.

Anyone who can identify the dog or who has information about the incident is asked to call the Whitewater Police Department at (262) 473-0555.
