— Janesville Parker High School rolled to a 99-42 victory over visiting Madison West in Big Eight Conference girls track Tuesday.

The Parker boys weren’t as fortunate, as they fell to the Regents, 84-57.

The Viking girls won 13 of 17 events to improve to 2-2 in the Big Eight Conference.

Kelsey Jones won the 100 and 200-meter dashes, Shelby Demos won the 100 hurdles and the high jump, Niquisha Kenerson won the long jump and the triple jump for Parker’s double winners.

Parker freshman Kristen Zeilinger broke a three-way tie with teammates Kate Perkins and Alex Oines pole-vaulting 7 foot, 9 inches to post her first career victory in the event.

“It’s was kinda cool to get that first big one,” Parker coach Dave Lehmann said.

The Vikings will compete in the Burlington Invitational at 4 p.m. this Friday.

The Parker boys ran into a buzzsaw in the Regents.

“West is very strong in both distance (races) and sprints,” Parker coach Joe Dye said. “And their horizontal jumps are outstanding.

“They were second in the 32-team Marquette Invitational last weekend. They are solid. They’re going to score some points in La Crosse.”

The highlight for the Vikings was the return of Cody Speaker in the pole vault. Speaker was injured in April, but he returned and won the pole vault, clearing 13-feet.

The Vikings compete in the Spartan Invitational in Madison on Friday night.
