Grall’s HR helps lift Cougars
BELOIT Dylan Grall’s booming three-run home run highlighted Craig’s four-run third inning Tuesday as the Cougars cruised to a 9-0 Big Eight Conference victory over Beloit Memorial.
Craig (11-3, 8-3) did all of its scoring in the third and fifth innings.
Brett Fredricks led off the fourth with a single and took second on an error. Zach Whalen followed with a single, setting up Grall’s home run to left. Craig added a fourth run as Christian DeCremer reached on an error, stole second and scored on a groundout.
The Cougars put the game away with five runs in the fifth inning, capped off by a two-run triple to left from Fredricks.
“We had two big breakout innings,” Craig coach Vic Herbst said.
Austin Geller pitched five shutout innings for Craig to pick up the victory.
The Cougars will be back in action today when they play a 4:30 p.m. game at Lake Geneva Badger.
