UW-Whitewater’s co-championship in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference baseball has brought an extra reward for the Warhawks.

Whitewater has been selected to host the four-team, double-elimination conference tournament, which begins Friday at Prucha Field.

UW-Oshkosh (23-15, 15-9) faces UW-La Crosse (22-15, 13-11) in the 10 a.m. opener. Whitewater (24-13, 15-9) goes against UW-Stevens Point (27-13, 15-9) at 1 p.m. The Game 1 winner plays the Game 2 loser at 4 p.m. to complete Friday’s schedule.

The tournament resumes at noon Saturday with the Game 2 winner against the Game 3 winner. A final game, if necessary, will match the game 3 winner against the Game 4 loser at 3 p.m.

The conference tournament champion receives the WIAC’s automatic NCAA Division III bid. That tournament begins with May 14-16 regional play.

Whitewater, Oshkosh and Stevens Point shared the WIAC regular-season championship. Whitewater has won six of the last seven and eight of the last 10 regular-season titles, and Stevens Point has won the last four conference tournaments.
