Janesville lacrosse rallies to edge Stoughton
STOUGHTON Aaron Turk’s goal with 7:08 remaining gave the Janesville Lacrosse Club a 7-6 come-from-behind victory over Stoughton on Monday.
The win likely secured third place in the Madison Area Lacrosse Association’s White division for Janesville.
Janesville led 2-1 after the first quarter on a pair of Darian St. Michael goals. The teams traded goals in the second with Janesville taking a 4-3 halftime lead when David Jacobson scored with 9 seconds left in the half.
But Stoughton outscored Janesville 3-1 in the third to leead 6-5 after three. St. Michael tied the score on a feed from Jacobson with 9:19 left before Turk scored the game-winner.
St. Michael finished with three goals and an assist, Turk had two goals and an assist, Jacobson a goal and an assist and Sean Davis had a goal for Janesville. Taylor Haney and Pete Hirsch also had assists for Janesville.
Ryan Johnson had 12 saves, including a number of big stops in the fourth quarter that kept Janesville in the game.
The Stoughton JV defeated the Janesville JV 6-2.
Janesville (6-5 overall, 4-3 MALA White Division) travels to Middleton for a match under the lights at Breitenbach Stadium on Friday. The JV game is at 6 p.m. with the varsity match set for 8 p.m.
