— A Janesville manufacturing company will lay off 35 workers at the end of June, according to a news release from the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development.

Morgan Corporation, 3100 E. Morgan Way, Janesville, on Thursday sent a letter to the state announcing the pending layoffs.

The van and truck body manufacturing and service company is located off John Paul Road on Janesville’s north side. Headquartered in Morgantown, Penn., the company specializes in the manufacture of dry freight van bodies, custom cargo truck bodies, refrigerated truck bodies and stake/platform bodies, according to its Web site.

The Janesville plant is one of 12 Morgan Corporation facilities in the nation, according to the Web site.

The laid-off employees are not union members, according to the letter.

someoneme: we used to work there as well... that's not including the number of employees that have been effected over the last year that were phenominal workers that due to corporate policies have been remarkably overlooked when it comes down to medial publicity... curious, but what would that put the number down to for them now that they're doing this and are already sitting at a skeleton crew??
.
to those that are effected by this, best of luck to you... we feel your pain...

I work there it maybe up to 40 as that is how many got the notice Friday. Also with being non union seniority did not help some. There are some with 30 plus years in that got the notice that are in there mid 50's. Try looking for a job a that age. Those that did not get the notice were also told they maybe going to 32 hour work weeks.

Even with the stimulus performing nominally, unemployment was expected to continue to rise throughout the year. The goal for the stimulus was to prevent it from going above 10%. Because consumer spending has fallen off a cliff, manufacturing and associated logistics industries are hurting badly and may not recover this year or even next.
