WCLO's Stan Stricker reports on reasons why the City of Beloit is holding out hope for the local economy

RSS

Beloit officials are working to retain, and even grow, a solid business base, despite a tough economy.

Assistant City Manager Steve Gregg says the Greater Beloit Economic Development Corporation has stepped up its business visitation program in recent weeks. Gregg says the effort has received positive feedback from most companies. The food cluster of industries appears to be doing well, with some even growing and adding additional production lines. To further give hope to an area with unemployment numbers as high as anywhere in the state, Gregg says the City has also received some inquiries in recent weeks, by companies doing site selection work.

He says, that just goes to show, the area is still attractive for economic development.
