The UW-Whitewater softball team split a pair of games Thursday to complete their spring trip with a 10-2 record.

Union College shut out the Warhawks, 8-0, in the first game of the day. Whitewater bounced back to beat Buffalo State, 6-4, in the nightcap.

The Warhawks are ranked fourth in the D3softball poll, and eighth in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association poll.

Whitewater did not allow an earned run in its loss to Union College.

Kate McDonnell’s three-run triple in the fourth inning sparked the Warhawks’ victory over Buffalo State.

Lauren Cruz and Amanda LeBeau each went 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI in the victory. Liz Yucuis also tripled.

Jessica Stang earned the win for the Warhawks. She struck out 12 and walked just one in a complete-game performance. Stang is 5-1 with a 1.48 ERA. She has struck out 48 in 33 innings, with just five walks.

The Warhawks are scheduled to play a nonconference doubleheader at the University of Dubuque on Tuesday.
