— A former Milton High School employee accused of having a sexual relationship with a student stood mute in Rock County Court on Tuesday when asked to enter a plea to eight felony charges.

Jamie S. Dutcher, 32, of 3744 Sandhill Drive, Janesville, waived his right to a preliminary hearing on four felony charges of sexual assault of a student by school staff and four felony charges of child enticement.

Court Commissioner Stephen Meyer entered a not guilty plea for Dutcher, a former technology support technician at Milton High.

Dutcher is accused of having several online conversations with a 17-year-old student, then sending her instant messages asking her to meet.

Dutcher is accused of meeting the girl four times at hotel and bowling alley parking lots.

When they met, he invited the girl into his vehicle and kissed her while touching her inappropriately outside her clothes, according to the criminal complaint.

He also asked the girl to have sex, according to the complaint.

The relationship was discovered when police found Dutcher and the girl in the back seat of his car parked behind the Holiday Inn Express in Janesville on Friday, Feb. 13, police said.

Dutcher was arrested at his home six days later, police said.

He resigned from his job at Milton High, a school official said.

The 17-year-old girl was a willing participant in the relationship, police said.

Dutcher is married and has children.
