Center Township voters to determine four races

— The town has two candidates in each of these races: chair, supervisor 1, supervisor 2 and treasurer.

Chair

Wayne Udulutch (I)

Age: 61

Address: 7416 W. Mineral Point Road, Janesville.

Job: Retired police officer

Education: Graduated from Sparta High in 1965, some technical and college courses.

Community service: Boy Scout leader, Little League coach, 4-H leader, church council member, board of directors of First Community Credit Union.

Elected posts: Town of Center board 1997-2005, Town of Center chair 2005-present.

Major campaign issues: "The need to maintain towns roads with the large increase in materials and using the same amount of income or less as in the past. It will be challenging to maintain the fire and EMS departments for the town. The town board needs to follow the town ordinances to avoid litigation."

Lenny Heath

Age: 52

Address: 1629 N. Roherty Road, Janesville.

Job: Farmer, manager of Rock County DHI Cooperative.

Education: Associate's degree in computer operations from Madison Area Technical College, 1982.

Community service: None.

Elected posts: Town of Center board 1995-99 and 2007-present.

Major campaign issues: "Reduce expenses and getting the most work done with the dollars available."

Supervisor 1

Rich Bruner

Age: 51

Address: 7236 W. Mineral Point Road, Janesville.

Job: Former assembler at General Motors

Education: Graduated from Milton High School in 1976, spent four years in the U.S. Navy.

Community service: None.

Elected posts: None.

Major campaign issues: "Center Township should be more open and appealing for expanded revenue sources, so there's more funding for township infrastructure and roads. From wind power generation to small mom and pop farms, we can be more proactive in helping to develop sustainable options for our futures, both large and small."

Ted Phalin

Age: 71

Address: 6628 W. Wildlife Lane, Janesville.

Job: Retired from General Motors and farming

Education: Wilton High School graduate, 1956.

Community service: Farm Bureau board of directors, church board of trustees, 4-H leader, Little League coach.

Elected posts: Town board supervisor 1995-97 and town chair 1997-2003.

Major campaign issues: "I want to use my experience and knowledge to make the best use of the town's resources during these difficult times."

Supervisor 2

James Reilly (I)

Joe Susong

Age: 70

Address: 8227 W. Mineral Point Road, Janesville.

Job: Retired from Gilman Engineering after 27 years, hobby farmer.

Education: Big Foot High School graduate, 1959.

Community service: Volunteer fire and rescue in Sharon for 13 years.

Elected posts: None.

Major campaign issues: "Work with the board members to stay in our budget."

Treasurer

Janet McKeown (I)

Rebekah Wiser

Age: 37

Address: 9107 W. Highway 14, Evansville.

Job: Manager of South Central Wisconsin USBC Association, office manager of Black Bridge Bowl, organist.

Education: Bachelor's degree from UW-Whitewater in 1993.

Community service: Zion Lutheran Church Sunday school leader, South Central Wisconsin USBC Association volunteer.

Elected posts: Town of Center treasurer 2005-07.

Major campaign issues: "As a resident of the Town of Center for the last 15 years, I care about our town. As such, I want to do my part and serve the town as treasurer. As treasurer I will do my part to keep our town fiscally responsible."
