UW-Whitewater wheelchair team advances

WHITEWATER Joe Chambers scored 36 points to lead nine Warhawk scorers as UW-Whitewater opened the National Intercollegiate Wheelchair Basketball Tournament with a 95-43 victory over Missouri at Williams Center here Thursday night.
The Warhawks (30-1) play at 7 tonight in a semifinal game against the University of Arizona. If Whitewater wins, it will go for its eighth national championship at 2 p.m. Saturday.
There is no admission charge.
Chambers hit 17 of 23 field-goal attempts, and he also grabbed eight rebounds.
Andre Bienek and Brian Wofford each added 12 points. Bienek led the Warhawks with 10 rebounds and also had nine assists.
Chris Okon led the winners with 13 assists.
Whitewater built a 51-27 lead by halftime. Missouri shot only 32.2 percent from the field, making 21 of 65.
