The Rock County Sheriff’s Office has issued a slow, no-wake restriction for the Rock River in the city of Janesville, Janesville and Fulton Townships.

Janesville and area boat launches, on the river, remain open but this restriction will be posted at river launches, including Traxler and Riverside Parks. Slow, no-wake is the minimum speed a motorized watercraft can travel while still maintaining steerage. The Rock County Sheriff’s Office will enforce this speed restriction. If you witness a slow, no-wake violation, call the sheriff’s office at (608) 757-2244.

The concern is that boat wakes will cause shoreline and personal property damage to areas of the river that have exceeded their banks, according to press releases from the City of Janesville and sheriff’s office.
