WCLO's Steve Benton reports on new business for the new Janesville Gazette printing plant

RSS

— You might be surprised to learn the new Janesville Gazette printing plant is keeping many of the ethnic communities in Chicago well informed.

Plant manager, Tony Smithson, says it all began with a contract to print a Russian language newspaper and has grown to the point where the plant is now publishing about nine ethnic based newspapers. Smithson says talks are underway with representatives for five or six more "short run" publications.

Smithson says one of their clients asked if he could get a discount on his printing costs if he brought the Gazette additional clients. Smithson agreed and now the client is working toward cutting his costs to zero.
