Beloit Memorial Hospital may be expanding its emergency room services at a good time.

An almost $300,000 funding plan in the House of Representatives 2009 Appropriations Act should help with the more than $11 million project. Senior Vice President Tim McKevett says more people are needing emergency care. He says the number of emergency room visits have been growing a steady 4% annually.

He also says with the sluggish economy, more people are putting off medical care, often prompting the need for an emergency room visit.
