As the Janesville City Council prepares to vote Monday on the city's Comprehensive Plan, the State Secretary of Agriculture weighs in on the plan's farmland preservation.
Deputy Secretary Randy Romanski says it might sound like a cliche, but Rock County's farmland is really some of the best in the state. Secretary Rod Nilsestuen sent a letter to City Manager Eric Levitt, who says he has not yet received a hard copy of it. Levitt says the city is addressing the concerns of farmland preservation, and could emphasize regional efforts to purchase development rights.
