Edgewood eliminates Lakeside

— Madison Edgewood withstood Lakeside Lutheran’s major comeback to win a down-to-the-wire Division 2 regional final at Watertown, 52-50, Saturday.

The Crusaders (18-4) play Waukesha Memorial (16-6) at 7 p.m. Thursday at Janesville Parker in the semifinals of the Sun Prairie Sectional.


Edgewood made one of two free throws to gain its final two-point margin with six seconds left.


Derek Braucht led Edgewood with 22 points. Justin Eternick and Nate Bauer paced Lakeside with 16 and 15, respectively.

Memorial 51, East Troy 49—Danny Douglas collected five of East Troy’s eight three-point goals, but it wasn’t enough for the Rock Valley North champions in a Division 2 regional final loss to Waukesha Catholic Memorial at Wilmot


The Crusaders (16-6) built a 41-32 lead in the first three quarters as they advanced to Sun Prairie Sectional. They play Madison Edgewood (18-4) in a semifinal game Thursday night at Janesville Parker.


Douglas and Mitch Windle each had 15 points to pace East Troy (17-6). T.J. Bray also had 15 in leading Memorial, a 76-48 winner over East Troy in a November nonconference game.

Burlington Catholic Central 47, Williams Bay Faith Christian 39—Reese Hartlage scored 21 points to help Catholic Central pull away in a regional final at Clinton on Saturday afternoon.


Catholic Central pulled away from a 30-25 lead after three quarters, hitting 13 of 24 free throws in the fourth quarter. Brian Fliess added 11 points in the win.


Josh Sass led Faith Christian with 19 points.
