— Superior High School scored four times in the final five minutes to beat Stoughton, 4-1, on Thursday in the first round of the WIAA state boys hockey tournament.

Stoughton (20-2-2) held a 1-0 lead off Trevor Hoth’s first period power play goal, but Superior (17-7) came back late in the third period after finally getting through Stoughton goaltender Andrew Martin.

Mitch Kontny tied the game with 4:58 left and Taylor Leuthner, Kontny and Dan Kolenda added goals in the closing minutes for the Spartans. Kolenda’s goal came with six seconds left after Stoughton had pulled Martin.

Pat Dalbec added three assists for Superior, which has won a record 12 state titles and plays Hartland Arrowhead (19-5) in today’s semifinals.

Fond du Lac (18-3-2) and Rice Lake (18-6) will meet in the other semifinal game.
