WCLO's Stan Stricker reports on the anticipation of an economically driven loss in Janesville School District student enrollment.

A survey conducted by the Janesville School District indicates a possible significant drop in student enrollment next year due to the shutdown of the General Motors plant.

Interim Superintendent, Karen Schulte, says the survey found 27 students were leaving the district. However, it also indicated that up to 107 students could be leaving, depending on whether their parents find other work in the area. Schulte says they've put together a staffing plan that reflects those numbers.

She says they'll also be conducting another survey at the end of the school year to see if the numbers can be firmed up.
