YWCA Rock County hopes a new advocate position at the Rock County Courthouse will help address swiftly increasing domestic violence incidents.

Executive Director Kerri Parker says their walk-in domestic violence services doubled from 2007 to 2008. She says legal advocacy, helping people with restraining orders, jumped more than 37 percent. The county's General Services Committee approves the request for space at the courthouse if the YWCA can secure funding. Parker says her group is applying for state and federal grant funding for the position.
