WCLO's Steve Benton reports how Sheriff's Department alcohol sales compliance checks are working

RSS

Four convenience store clerks were cited for selling alcohol to minors in the latest Rock County Sheriff's Department compliance check.

Captain Jude Maurer says a monitor used minors to attempt to purchase alcohol at 50 establishments. Maurer says of those 50, four violated the terms of the sale by dispensing the alcohol to a minor. The Captain considers the number of violations low, and an indication the compliance checks are working. Whoever sold the alcohol was ticketed with a $438 citation.

The Sheriff's Department says the checks will continue unannounced.
