Rock County Sheriff Robert Spoden is considering the merits of installing cameras along highways to catch speeders.

Governor Doyle has included the provision in his budget. Spoden says cameras could be useful in locations with a high number of traffic accidents. He says the intent of using cameras should be clearly understood, to avoid any appearance of "Big Brother".

He also says the move could be more economical as responsibilities grow, and resources dwindle.

Now we know how the police will be able to stop people because they aren't wearing their seat belts. As soon as that happens the fine will double, because of the cost of tires and gas.

Hello Big Brother! They'll be too busy at their military style checkpoints, naturally, to be able to devote actual people to the streets. Good reason to scale back the police, if you ask me.
