With the holiday weekend approaching, the Rock County Health Department is advising caution around blue-green algae.

Environmental Health Director Tim Banwell suggests avoiding the algae, which can look like paint floating on the water. Even though the State Department of Health Services has issued a warning, Banwell says the dangerous algae hasn't been reported in Rock County yet this summer.

Banwell says if you come in contact with this toxic algae, wash with soap immediately.
