Governor Jim Doyle is scheduled to sign the state budget Monday, marking the first time a state budget has been completed on time since 1977.

Assembly Speaker Mike Sheridan says the budget is designed to bring economic development to areas like Rock County. He says the enterprise zone tax credit program is one of the most powerful economic development tools in the country because it sparks capital investment. The tax credit is intended to attract and retain businesses by triggering job retention, construction projects and economic growth.

Facts are stubborn things..
- Sheridan voted to raise the tax on capital gains for everyone (meaning less to invest for expansion and jobs).
- Sheridan voted for over $100M in pork projects in this budget.
- Sheridan voted to increase spending by over 6% (during a time of decreasing revenues!)
- Sheridan voted to increase taxes and fees by $3 billion for Wisconsin families.

With all the negatives that are in that budget, Sheridan shouldn't get a free pass by just talking about this one item that he says will benefit Rock County. I've heard he's over his head as the Assembly Speaker. Is there any chance that Sen. Robson is not going to run in 2010? That would allow Sheridan to gracefully walk away from being the Speaker....
...And why don't we ever hear anything about Hixson and Benedict? Oh wait, they would probably have to be DOING something to generate any notice from the press.

Recall Doyle, now!!
-
There are some pretty strong rumors floating around Madison that Doyle is stepping down to accept a position with the Fed. He has read the tea leaves and understands he stands no chance in getting re-elected.

Sheridan also said GM coming back to Janesville was a strong possibility. Not.

Assembly Speaker Sheridan (Dem. -Janesville) is engaging in the political games the have been perfected over the years in Washington and Madison by claiming this budget will create jobs here in Rock County. He knows that unemployment has or will soon peak and that by the time the next election rolls around, more people will have jobs that he can take credit for having a leading roll in helping to create whether the budget actually helped or impeded job creation which will be impossible to substantiate or refute factually, as such claims always are.

I hope that some of these jobs will be to revitalize the already developed areas of town.

Enterprise zones didn't work in the 1980s. Why do we think they'll work now?

Does the tax credit equal the new taxes that this budget puts on businesses? Wisconsin is doing nothing to attract businesses here. And the ones that are here have to be feeling betrayed by this budget which increases their taxes. This whole democratic mess of a budget is a boil on the butt of Wisconsin. Two things vote the bast%&*s out and think term limits. Sheridan is a joke along with all the rest of dummycrats who think the people they represent are too stupid to see whats going on "BEHIND CLOSED DOORS"
