Beloit police investigate shooting death

— Beloit police are investigating a shooting that occurred in the early morning hours Sunday. One person is reported dead, another in serious condition.

A patrol officer found two gunshot victims at about 3:30 a.m. in a car that had crashed near the intersection of Woodward and White avenues. Both men were inside the vehicle and both had been shot.

Pronounced dead was 30-year-old David Davis. Listed in serious but stable condition is 24-year-old Anthony Gibson.

Beloit Police Captain Bill Tyler says the men had been staying in Beloit recently but are from the Chicago area.

Tyler says detectives think they have been able to figure out where the shooting occurred.

Police report this is the second homicide in the city this year.

The investigation remains open and police are encouraging anyone with information about the incident to contact them.
