Clinton rips Beloit Snappers

— The Clinton LumberKings erupted for a five-run fourth inning to score a 7-2 victory over the Beloit Snappers in Thursday night’s second-half Midwest League baseball opener.

Beloit led 2-1 after two innings as John Waltenbuy scored on a bases-loaded walk and Dominci De La Osa came home on James Beresford’s RBI single.

The Snappers could not hold down the top of Clinton’s order. Terry Serrrano, Luis Nunez and Scott Savastano combined to go 11-for-14. Savastano had three RBIs.

The LumberKings blew the game open with a five-run fourth. Three runs scored on Savastano’s double.

The teams will continue their series with at 7 tonight.
