Marshall names assistant principal
JANESVILLE A special-education teacher from Racine will become the new assistant principal at Marshall Middle School.
The Janesville School Board approved Andre Bennett for the post at its meeting Tuesday.
Bennett replaces Jay Pica, who was earlier named principal of Kennedy Elementary School. Both men start their new jobs Wednesday.
Bennett will receive a salary of $85,112.
Bennett has been a cross-categorical special-education teacher for the Racine School District since 2005. He holds a bachelor's degree in sociology and a master's degree in educational administration and supervision, according to a district news release.
Bennett was chosen from among 89 applicants. Another finalist was Tanya Wojciechowicz, a science teacher in the Kenosha School District.

Is the board telling us there is no one in the Janesville system qualified to be Asst Principal? Why are we going outside the system for management people? In a school system, Janesville's size, there should be many qualified people.

Less money than who? You can't really compare elemetary principals to middle level assistant principals. Their job duties are very different.
