— Kenosha pulled the plug on Janesville’s power and ignited some of its own to roll up a 9-1 victory in American Legion baseball Tuesday night Carthage College.

Janesville managed only five singles off Dustin Proud in falling to 5-1 in the Lakes Area Region 7 League and 6-3 overall.

“We didn’t play that badly. We just didn’t do anything good,’’ Janesville coach Ron Pohlman said. “We hit the ball, but right at somebody all the time.’’

Kenosha, led by center fielder Shawn Miller’s four RBIs, dodged Janesville’s defense enough to lead all the way. After taking a 1-0 lead on Miller’s first-inning double, the home team pulled away to a 7-0 command in a six-run fifth, during which it collected three of its eight hits off Tyler Teubert and Mike Davis.

Miller’s three-run triple was the key blow in the fifth. He also scored the final run of the inning on a Rick Steinke’s sacrifice fly.

Austin Geller led off the seventh with a walk and scored Janesville’s only run on Christian DeCremer’s sacrifice fly.

Janesville returns to action at home Sunday in a noon doubleheader against Oshkosh at the Youth Sports Complex.
