Janesville woman jailed for causing 3-way crash
Heather M. Weiland, 23, could be charged with two counts of causing injury by drunken driving and one count of causing great bodily harm by drunken driving, said Joshua Grube, Walworth County deputy district attorney.
The counts are aggravated because Weiland had a small child with her at the time of the crash, Grube said.
Weiland failed to stop at a four-way stop at Highway 67 and County F at 5:43 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Walworth County Sheriff's Office. Weiland's Jeep struck a VW Beetle and then hit a sport utility vehicle.
The driver of the Beetle was flown to a local hospital with critical internal injuries. The driver's name and condition were not available from the sheriff's office Wednesday.
Other victims were treated and released from area hospitals. Their names were not available, either.
Deputies cited Weiland for open intoxicants in a vehicle, inattentive driving, failure to stop at a stop sign and failure to wear a seatbelt.
In court Wednesday, Weiland was ordered held on a $1,500 cash bond. She remained in the Walworth County Jail on Wednesday and is scheduled to be back in court Thursday, July 2.
