Tarsi, Beloit Snappers win

— Michael Tarsi pitched seven shutout innings Tuesday night as the Beloit Snappers held on for a 2-1 Midwest League victory over the Clinton LumberKings in the third game of a four-game series.

Tarsi allowed just two hits, struck out five and didn’t walk a batter. Reliever’s Michael Allen and Joe Testa completed the shuout. Testa fanned three in 1q innings to earn his seventh save.

Beloit scored what turned out to be the winning run in the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly by Ramon Santana. The Snappers scored the game’s first run in the third inning on Drew Thompson’s RBI double. Dominic De La Osa had two of the Snappers’ six hits.

The two teams are scheduled to wrap up the series at 7 tonight. Beloit will then host the Quad Cities in a four-game series before taking June 22-24 off for the Midwest League All-Star break. Clinton will host the 2009 All-Star Game.

Testa named All-Star

Lefty Joe Testa has been chosen to represent Beloit in next Tuesday’s All-Star Game.

Testa earned his way onto the West roster by going 0-1 with an ERA of 1.65 in 24 appearances. He has 58 strikeouts, 21 walks, 22 hits allowed and a 0.98 WHIP in 43q innings.
