WCLO's Steve Benton reports on the latest developments in Beloit's Gateway extension project

RSS

— Beloit City Manager, Larry Arft, says the Gateway extension project will move forward now that bids for the work are in.

The project involves extending Gateway Blvd. into undeveloped land, and installing infrastructure, including sewer and water. Arft says infrastructure will also be extended along the roadway that connects the new Kerry Ingredients world headquarters building to the Gateway development.

The bids came back a little under projected costs at around $10 million. Most of the project is paid for through federal and state funding or grants.

Arft says the extension is important for future development, even though there hasn't been much interest during the economic downturn.

Work is scheduled to get underway in July and be finished before the construction season ends.
