The City of Janesville is posting water quality advisory signs at Lions Beach.

The Leisure Services Department says recent tests indicate higher than normal levels of E. Coli bacteria. The signs posted advise "swim at your own risk". Swimmers are advised to avoid drinking pond water, shower after swimming, wash hands before eating, and avoid swimming if ill.

The city says new water tests will be taken regularly.

When is the last time that the beach was open with out the swim advisory? I have lived here for almost 8 years and never remember a time where it was safe to swim. Close it for good. Quit wasting money every year on it!
