As the state budget stands now, Rock County government won't see as large a cut in state aid as previously thought.

Assistant County Administrator Phil Boutwell is briefing the county board on the specifics Thursday. The governor's version of the budget included approximately $2.1 million in state aid cuts that would affect Rock County. In the version approved by the Joint Finance Committee, Rock County would see about $1.3 million in cuts.

Boutwell says the state budget process still has a few more steps, but the current version of the state budget will likely be similar to the final version signed by the governor.
